Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor, mni, President of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for what he described as a “merit-based and inspired” appointment of Lieutenant General Olufemi Olusola Oluyede, mni, NAM, as Nigeria’s new Chief of Defence Staff.
Speaking on behalf of AANI members nationwide, Ambassador Okafor expressed deep pride in seeing one of the association’s own rise to the highest echelon of military leadership. He noted that General Oluyede’s elevation is a clear testament to his distinguished service record and outstanding leadership credentials.
“This appointment is a reflection of President Tinubu’s commitment to excellence and merit,” Okafor said. “It reaffirms faith in leaders who embody integrity, professionalism, and strategic vision.”
Ambassador Okafor also extended gratitude to the outgoing Defence Chiefs for their immense contributions to national security and prayed for God’s blessings upon them as they transition to retirement.
He reaffirmed AANI’s readiness to collaborate with the new Defence Chief in promoting national unity, peace, and development, consistent with the association’s motto - ‘Towards a Better Society’.
